Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG) has unveiled its partnership promotion round, bringing nine into the fold.
The firm’s London office has received the biggest boost with five partners made up, two joining the employment partnership.
The firm’s Manchester office, which was opened in April 2009 on the back of a raid on DLA Piper, received a boost of two partners. The office’s non-lawyer managing partner Dene Rowe is one of the two promoted.
Outside the UK BLG’s international offices in Singapore and Hong Kong both added a partner in the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
Senior partner Simon Konsta said: “The size and spread of this year’s promotions underlines our commitment to our core markets and our desire for international growth.
“They also reflect the positive performance of all of our practice areas in 2010/2011, and substantially increased profitability for the firm over the last financial year.”
Despite a string of exits from the firm, most recently when the firm’s eight-partner aviation team joined rival Holman Fenwick & Willan ;return false;” onkeypress=”window.open(this.href);return false;”>24 March 2011), BLG is now home to 103 partners. The firm has overhauled its partnership profile. It began by acquiring Halliwells Manchester office, which gave it 17 partners in Manchester and an additional two in London ;return false;” onkeypress=”window.open(this.href);return false;”>26 July 2010), before allowing the exit of several long term partners ;return false;” onkeypress=”window.open(this.href);return false;”>1 November 2010).
