In a stunning reversal of fortune for both MGA and its lawyers at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, a federal jury in Santa Ana, Calif., sided with MGA in its long-running dispute with Mattel over the rights to the Bratz dolls.
An eight-person jury in Santa Ana, Calif., found that Mattel does not own the rights to the Bratz dolls and MGA did not steal Mattel’s trade secrets. A second-generation gangster busted for slicing up a Brooklyn pizzeria owner worked as mob muscle for his sibling’s suspected loanshark operation, law enforcement sources said Saturday.
The NYPD and the FBI are probing whether mob associate Benny Geritano was doing his half brother’s bidding in the bloody street showdown with celebrity pizza maker Mark Iacono.
“Benny has a screw loose and goes off,” one source told the Daily News. “But his job was to collect his half brother’s loans.”Both combatants, each armed with a knife, blamed the other for the Friday fight, and neither cooperated with police – with Iacono’s silence bolstering the theory of a mob loan or extortion, sources said.
“No one is giving up a reason,” a second source told The News.

If one Sacramento lawyer has his way, professional basketball in California’s capital city will not end with the conclusion of the team’s season this past week. The Sacramento Kings, who lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 116-108 in overtime on Wednesday night, could soon be headed to Anaheim.
Kings owners Joe and Gavin Maloof, two billionaire brothers who made their fortune in the entertainment business, are planning to file documents with the league to move the team to Anaheim for the 2011-12 NBA season. The brothers have been seeking a new arena for the Kings, which currently play in the outdated 17,300-seat Power Balance Pavilion.
The Maloofs are represented by Loeb & Loeb media and entertainment partner Scott Zolke in Los Angeles.

The search for additional victims of a suspected Long Island serial killer turned up two sets of bones that are believed to be human, police said Monday.
The remains are likely the ninth and tenth sets of human remains found since December on the remote barrier beach off Long Island’s south shore.
“It’s just amazing that we’re finding these things,” said Detective Lt. Kevin Smith of the Nassau County Police Department, who confirmed the discoveries.
The first discovery – a partial skeleton – was made about 11:30 a.m.
